Jennifer Jacobus is a Miami, Florida native who graduated from Gulliver Preparatory School in 1982. Four years later (1986) she earned a B.A in Psychology from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire.

Penny Corbitt grew up in Thomson, Georgia where she attended Briarwood Academy and graduated in 1978. After high school Penny briefly attended the American Business & Fashion institute in Charlotte, North Carolina. She returned home after a year of study in order to help care for her father who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

Jennifer and Penny met in Georgia through mutual friends. They owned and operated a video store together in the very late ‘80's, which turned out to be a very successful venture. Years later they decided the snow might be fun and they opened a small café in New England. When they'd finally had enough of the cold and ice, they sold the café and returned to the sun and fun of Miami where they now run RatingsAndReferrals.com!
